According to Wikipedia, ACE is the longest running devoted
publisher of Science Fiction material. Founded in 1952
by one Aaron A. Wyn.
ACE published a whole series of books as "ACE Doubles",
meaning you had to turn over the book to read a second
novel or more short stories from the back.
William S. Burroughs novel "Junky" (aka "Junkie")
was published by ACE back-to-back with the 1941 novel
"Narcotic Agent" by Maurice Helbrant, by the
way.
Naturally, ACE was sold and resold over the years and
is now part of the mega-publishing pool Penguin.
