I do not claim to have understood this fully. Note to self: re-reading is recommended.

Anyhow, another mind-twister from the grandmaster of paranoia.

Palmer Eldritch returns from a distant universe with the ultimate drug that enables people to spend hours and years in an illusory world, without losing a second of earth time ...

This sounds tempting, but apart from the catch that Eldritch becomes the god of each and every illusory world, the math should convince anyone that this is a bad deal, unless you were able to use the time under "Chew-Z" (probably spelly like "juicy", for whatever that might mean) productively. If it doesn't take any time to have a three month high, it doesn't help passing the time. Which is a bummer, really.

And then you never know whether you actually did come off the drug or whether what you think is real time again is just another facette of "Chew-Z" time ...
