If you like apocalypse themed science fiction AND mutants
with psi powers PLUS some psycho-stuff going in there,
this is your book.
Generally it seems to be an exercise in social studies
concerning how to deal with people who are different and
situations that change. Most interesting is the case of
little Edie Keller who was born with special case of "siamese
twin" who is born inside her. WHi9ch makes her one
of the "funnies", just that no one sees it.
What's also interesting is that Dick put in, yet again,
his "signature", if you will, the theme of "media"
controlling people or people following media blindly.
In this case it's an astronaut stranded in a satellite
that was packed for a journey to Mars. Now he ends up
playing DJ for a devestated and slowly recovering earth.
The cast is awesome, with Dr. Bluthgeld, the neurotic
scientist who might or might not have psi powers, the
mutant Hoppy Harrington who definitely has those powers
and some more or less everyday people.
