Fred Jürgen Rogner (mostly credited as Jürgen
F. Rogner in his early works) took over the job of illustrating
science fiction covers for the Goldmann publishing house
after Eyke Volkmer (link)
had left. His style was more modern and realistic, and
he has recreated new covers for titles Volkmer had worked
on earlier.
Rogner was a student at the time and was hired by Mr.
Goldmann in person.
In the early eighties, Rogner left for the UK and France,
where he continued to successfully work as a graphic
artist.
Having designed well over a hundred covers for Goldmann
and Heyne (receiving awards for his work), his current
output is very 3D. . . . . . . . . . . .
